My wife and I were first introduced to naturism back in 2002 when we visited Valley View Hot Springs in Villa Grove, Colorado.  This clothing optional hot spring was located up in the mountians and had several soaking pools, camp sites and rustic cabins available for rental.  Although I took to it right away, my wife, not being comfortable with her body, was a little more apprehensive and remained clothed during our two day stay.

Our next naturist experience didn't occur until the summer of 2005.  I had expressed an interest in going to Desert Shadows Inn to my wife.  Knowing that I was interested in trying the naturist resort, she agreed with the condition that she may choose to spend most of her time in the room.  Consequently we planned a four night stay, and my wife brought along a number of books that she could read during our time there.

Once we checked in I went out to the pool and left my wife in the room.  Much to my surprise, after about twenty minutes she emerged from the room donning nothing more than a wrap.  My wife told me at the time that that she felt foolish staying in the room; after all she was an adult and had nothing to be ashamed of.  For the remainder of our visit, my wife went swimming naked, but still felt a little uneasy laying on the lounger and often kept covered with her wrap.

The following year we spent several long weekends camping at a naturist park not far from home - The New Forest Family Naturist Resort.  During our first visit we got to experience the park's first nude wedding.  We were made to feel so welcome that we planned to return again in the future.

During mid August of 2006, we returned to Desert Shadows Inn for a weeklong visit.  By now my wife was getting more comfortable with the lifestyle and remained nude most of the time that we spent there.

In February of 2007 we went on our first nude cruise with Bare Necessities down to the eastern Carribean.  Everyone had been trying to get me to go on a cruise for years and I kept telling them I wasn't really interested.  Maybe it would be something I would consider once I retired.  Of course, once my wife started talking about a nude cruise I changed my tune.  It was such a great experience that we booked our next nude cruise while we were still aboard the ship.

During the cruise we stopped at two nude beaches; one was in Bonaire and the other was Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas.  The former beach was located at Sorobon Beach Resort.  Bare Necessities had made arrangements with them to allow an excursion from the ship to visit.  The latter is the private island for the cruise line Holland America.  Since we had been such cooperative guests the Captain allowed us to use the entire beach au naturel.

At the start of the summer of 2007 we once again returned to the naturist park near our home.  It had changed owners and was now known as Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park.  After camping there for a couple of weekends, we decided to take out a membership at the club.  We continued to stay up there for several weekends throughout the summer and often dropped in for a swim after work on those hot sticky nights.  By the end of the summer we had secured a permanent campsite, bought a new trailer and set it up in the park.

Also during the summer of 2007 we spent a week at Caliente Caribe, a naturist resort in the Dominican Republic.  For our vacation in 2008 we went to Club Orient, located on the famous Orient Beach in St. Martin, FWI.

My wife and I are members of both the FCN and AANR and practice naturism as part of our daily lives. We truly believe clothing should only be worn for protection.  From our experience when someone sheds their clothing, they also remove the veneer often surrounding many people in society.

Due to my experiences with naturism, I have decided to create a site that will provide some basic information about the naturist lifestlye.  Hopefully the material here will be useful to both new and seasoned naturists alike.

Of course, this is only one of many resources available, so I suggest the reader review some of the other sites on the Internet for additional information.  In particular, I recommend visiting the Federation of Canadian Naturists (FCN) and the American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR).  Both of these organizations are advocates for naturism in North America and help to promote the lifestyle in a positive fashion.
